Chapter 8 · April 30, 2018
T-minus two weeks until our first wedding!
Chapter 7 · April 27, 2018
It’s crunch time! At this point, we are taking advantage of every nice night/weekend that we have! It has rained every weekend since January (which is problematic when you are building a wedding venue), so when the sun comes out-we are out. We are so blessed that we have friends who just want to help us. I’m not sure if they just feel bad for us, or if they actually like to do this work (I’m telling myself it’s the second one).
Chapter 6 · April 24, 2018
Now that the barn was completely opened up, there were several things that needed to be done. First, clean the barn floor so we could spread gravel in preparation for concrete, and second-start building several retaining walls around the property.
Chapter 5 · April 23, 2018
Our next project was something I knew had to happen from the first time I stepped on the property-bury the power lines. I told Chad that even if we didn’t make this a wedding venue, we had to bury the lines. They ran all through the field and were super intrusive to almost every sight line from the house.
Chapter 4 · April 23, 2018
Next up was working on the barn! We realized that there were several places on the property to get married but our main priority had to be working on the barn as a reception venue. A little backstory here-
Chapter 3 · April 20, 2018
Sometime in late October, we thought we would go ahead and start a Facebook page-that way we could keep our friends and family in the loop of how things were going on the property (Side note: Check us out in the sidebar to connect with us on Facebook, or @themanoratstowershill on Instagram). In addition, we wanted to begin marketing our property as a wedding venue; so I had some of my recently married friends pull their dress out and be my models.
Chapter 2 · April 19, 2018
On August 31st, 2017, Chad and I (along with his dad and a moving truck) moved from the heart of Knoxville to Harriman, TN. I was so torn on leaving our Knoxville home. It was in the perfect location (five minutes from both of our jobs), we had remodeled it until it was perfect (the master bath was spa like, yall) and most of all-it was comfortable (as in “our comfort zone”).
